ADEQ Director Benjamin H. Grumbles Visits KAWC Studios to Talk Sustainability

Benjamin Grumbles took over the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality earlier this summer. He comes to the position after years in Washington, DC working for the Congress and the Environmental Protection Agency. Grumbles ran the nations’ water policy at EPA for a record 5 years. He began as a policy advisor for Governor Jan Brewer before his appointment to ADEQ. Recently he and AZ Corporation Commission Chair Kris Mayes and AZ Department of Water Resources Director Herb Guenther launched a statewide program to address water issues in the state. AWC's New President Begins Tenure in Yuma

A new school year begins over the next few weeks for many Yuma county students. But here at Arizona Western College the new school year will have a slightly different feel. That’s because, for the first time in over a decade, there is a new leader taking over the president’s office at A-W-C. Doctor Marc Nigliazzo is the new president at Arizona Western College. After serving several decades in administrative positions at various community colleges in Texas, Nigliazzo’s most recent post was as Vice President of Rio Rancho Operations and Branch Academic Affairs at the University of New Mexico. But another reason some students might not view college as an option is because they worry they may be behind in some subject areas. Author takes Readers to Killing Fields of Juarez

Author Stella Pope Duarte has written an account of three of the women who have been brutally murdered in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico. She told KAWC's Dave Riek (03/03/09) that she could not turn away from the tragedy of over 400 women murdered in the past decade.
