One Dead Two in Custody after Quartzite Shootout

One man is dead and another was taken into custody early this morning following law enforcement involved shootings and the violent theft of a semi near Quartzite, about 80 miles north of Yuma.  The Arizona Department of Public Safety says at about 1am a Ford Mustang was stopped by a Highway Patrol officer on Interstate 10 east of Quartzite for having a suspended license plate.  The DPS says a passenger in the vehicle fired a semi-automatic weapon at the officer but missed.  The officer fired back and the vehicle, now driven by the passenger, drove off west on I-10.

Other law enforcement agencies joined the Highway Patrol in the search for the suspect vehicle.  Vincent Dulesky, Special Operations Supervisor for the Public Affairs Office of the Yuma Sector of the Border Patrol, says Yuma Border Patrol agents found it...................................................

The vehicle was a semi that the suspect broke into and beat the resting driver before stealing it and driving east on Interstate 10 toward Quartzite.................................
