Yuma County Donations For Earthquake Victims In Mexico

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake hit central Mexico Tuesday destroying buildings and killing hundreds.

For those looking to help victims of the earthquake and groups assisting relief efforts, KAWC’s Stephanie Sanchez has the details.

Two collection points for the Mexican Red Cross have been set up in Yuma County.

Radio Manantial located at 1830 South 8th Avenue, Suite A in Yuma, AZ will be open from 8am to 5p.m. Monday through Friday.

Iglesia Bautista Gethsemani, located at 1010 B Street in San Luis, AZ will be receiving donations until 5p.m.

Mexican Red Cross president Flor Fernandez of San Luis Rio Colorado said non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, first aid supplies, feminine products and baby products including diapers are the most needed.

"We also welcome volunteers to greet the public bringing donations at our center and box up donations for transportation," Fernandez said in Spanish.

The Mexican Red Cross created a wish list on Amazon. For a list of specific items needed, visit www.amazon.com.mx
