La Paz County Backs Sinema Bill To Boost Economic Development

Sinema Campaign

The La Paz County Board of Supervisors submitted written support of U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema's bipartisan La Paz County Solar Energy and Job Creation Act. The letter came ahead of Wednesday's Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Public Lands, Forests, and Mining hearing.

The county's Board of Supervisors wrote that Sen. Sinema's bill will create jobs and help facilitate a clean energy future for Arizona.

"I am proud to continue partnering with La Paz County to create good-paying Arizona jobs, boost affordable energy, and ensure La Paz County's economy continues to grow," Sen. Sinema said in a released statement.

The act would transfer 4,800 acres from the Bureau of Land Management to La Paz County at fair market value. According to the legislation, it would be used for economic development like solar energy projects and create jobs while boosting affordable, renewable energy.

U.S. Senator Martha McSally co-sponsored the act and Congressman Paul Gosar introduced a companion bill in the U.S. House.
