Alexia Perez Arce Named Miss San Luis 2019

An Arizona Western College student has been named Miss San Luis 2019.

Alexia Perez Arce was named Miss San Luis 2019 on Thursday evening at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center. The 20-year-old is majoring in elementary education at AWC.

Perez Arce was selected from five contestants who are students at either Arizona State University, AWC or San Luis High School. She said she is looking to engage the community in the year ahead.

“My platform is child abuse awareness," Perez Arce said. "I want to make a difference in my community and help the children in danger right now.”

The pageant was a kick off of sorts for San Luis’ 40th anniversary. Former Miss San Luis titleholders including Miss Southwest 2018 Kyara Lardin were in attendance.

For this year's pageant, the first runner up is Kimberly Lopez Marquez, 18. The second runner up is Teresa Sandoval, 18. Sandoval was also named Miss Congeniality and Miss Talent. Perez Arce was also named Miss Elegance.

The other contestants were Alexia Mendoza and Nydia Natalie Leon, both 17.

The master and mistress of ceremony for the show were Christian Guerrero and Yuma Telemundo reporter Jackie Lopez.
