Former Yuma High School Athletes Inducted into Hall of Fame

Several former Yuma High School athletes are being recognized for their dedication to the school during their high school days.

Seven individual members and one club will be enshrined into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame class of 2019 is made up of swimmer Ross Consaul (Class of 1972); football, wrestling and golf star Tracy Converse (Class of 1975); swimmer Tanya Howe (Class of 1985); football and basketball stand-out Tom Ramsey (Class of 1969); team doctors Dr. Matthew Wong and Dr. Paul Slosser; friends of athletics Carl Greenwell as well as the 1960 state-champion girl's tennis team and the 1988-89 Touchdown Booster Club.

The group will be enshrined by the Yuma High School Hall of Fame Committee on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019. The enshrinement ceremony will be held in the Yuma High School Cafeteria at 11:30 a.m. followed by the presentation of their Hall of Fame inductee plaques at the Palace Gym at 1 p.m.

The ceremony is the final portion of a three-day celebration for enshrinees. The first day will include a gathering at Lute’s Casino in downtown Yuma on Thursday, Oct. 31. The second day will consist of a campus lunch, tailgate barbeque, VIP seating and recognition during Yuma High's football game against cross-town rival Kofa on Friday, Nov. 2.

The first Yuma High Athletic Hall of Fame class dates back to 2010, with each member being honored with a plaque in the east wing of the Palace Gym.

The goal of the Athletic Hall of Fame is to maintian the rich heritage and tradition of successful athletic programs at Yuma High School.
