Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has issued a stay at home order effective at 5 p.m. March 31.
This comes after recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state health officials.
Gov. Ducey said residents should limit time away from home except for essential activities.
Grocery stores and pharmacies remain open as do some restaurants for take out and delivery orders. Stores are closing earlier to allow for restocking and many are allowing the first hour on certain days for older shoppers.
Yuma Mayor Doug Nicholls and others have asked residents to refrain from panic buying and stores are limiting certain items such as toilet paper and water to one or two items per person. Please check with your local stores and restaurants for hours.
Ducey spoke with reporters today alongside state health and education leaders. Earlier Monday, he and state superintendent Kathy Hoffman announced the closure of all public and charter schools for the remainder of the school year.
