Lake Havasu wins $2 Million in "America's Best Communities" Competition

Lake Havasu City, Arizona has won two million dollars as one of the top finishers in the "America's Best Communities" Competition. 

The competition was a three year ten million dollar community revitalization campaign.  It was sponsored by Frontier Communications, Dish Network, CoBank and The Weather Channel.  Nearly 350 communities entered the competition.  The field was first narrowed to fifty in the quarterfinals, fifteen in the semifinals, finally pared down to eight finalists.

The "America's Best Communities" Competition challenged local leaders to envision a stronger future and build a strategy to improve lives and livelihoods. Lake Havasu City Mayor Mark Nexson said for Lake Havasu the competition challenged city leaders to attract younger people and families to the community.

With its two million dollar prize, Lake Havasu City will accelerate its Vision 20/20 plan, which focuses on five pillars:  economic development and job creation, education and workforce talent, tourism and place development, water preservation and management and community engagement.  Combined these strategic initiatives are designed to jumpstart economic growth.
