Matadors Land Three Volleyball Players On All-Conference Teams

Melissa Garciglia Banuelos, Lauolive Tonga and Delaney St. Pierre earn All-Conference selections.

The Lady Matadors sophomore experience earned three All-Conference selections and a pair of All-Region honors, the conference and region announced Sunday.

Melissa Garciglia Banuelos, who led the team in kills and ranks second in the conference, is a first team member of both the ACCAC and Region I. Garciglia Banuelos amassed 357 kills in 29 matches for the Matadors, the only Mat to appear in every contest this season. She also broke the school record for aces in a season with 64, leading the conference by a wide margin.

Lauolive Tonga, the middle blocker from Kahuku, HI, excelled in her sophomore season in order to earn 2nd Team All-ACCAC and 1st Team All-Region I. Tonga led the Matadors in blocks with 90 and ranks fourth in the conference for blocks per set.

Delaney St. Pierre, a transfer from Ryder University, made an immediate impact on the Matadors this year in order to earn Honorable Mention honors from the conference. St. Pierre showed versatility and leadership while splitting time at setter and right side to help the Matadors to another Region I Championship appearance.

Arizona Western will look to extend the season when they travel to Prescott to take on Yavapai for the Region I Championship at 7:00pm. The Game will be streamed by Yavapai College.
