Movie Theaters in Yuma and La Paz Counties Won't Reopen Saturday

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced this week that movie theaters in the state can reopen on Saturday, a day after his stay at home order expires.

But don’t expect theaters in Yuma or La Paz counties to open then.

The Arizona Republic reports Harkins Theatres, the state’s largest theater chain that includes the Harkins Yuma Palms location, won’t open Saturday.

Ducey closed movie theaters on March 20.

Besides health and safety reasons, Harkins officials say they await films to be rescheduled for release. Some planned movie releases have been offered on streaming services.

The Regency Main Street Cinemas in Yuma and Bluewater Cinemas in Parker have not issued any statements about reopening as of Wednesday evening.
