MVD in Yuma To Close For System Upgrades

The Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) in Yuma will close Friday, April 17 through Tuesday, April 21 for computer system upgrades. The shutdown will interrupt all services provided at the MVD offices and through its third-party provider ServiceArizona.com.

The new computer systems will update previous systems that are 35 years old and outdated.

The roll-out of a new 'state of the art' computer system has been in the works for the past five years. There will be 30 new services available through the AZ MVD Now application that has been in service for several years. All current Arizona MVD customers have an account with AZ MVD Now, some just need to be activated.

The account is free and offers a secured personal account where customers can add funds to pay for various fees and services. These services include; registration renewal, replacing a driver's license or identification card, ordering specialty plates, getting a three-day permit, managing insurance, title transfers, replacements, and scheduling appointments.

In addition to the upgraded computer systems, the MVD is transitioning many services by mail. Documents like titles, registrations, and all licenses will now be sent to customers via mail and no longer available at the MVD.
