Photo Gallery: 39th Annual San Luis Founders' Day Parade

The City of San Luis celebrated its 39th birthday on Saturday with the annual Founders' Day parade with a festive and colorful Mardi Gras theme.

The parade included colorful floats with Mardi Gras masks, beads and New Orleans landmarks from local schools and organizations. Special guests included San Luis Mayor Gerardo Sanchez, city council members and the newly crowned Miss Southwest Kyara Lardin.

People lined Juan Sanchez Boulevard on a sunny morning and applauded as the parade passed. The Gadsden Elementary School District Marching Band impressed as usual and are also known as "The Pride of San Luis".

A festival was held Saturday evening at Joe Orduño Park with live music from bands including the Ramones de Nuevo León and Los Quintanilla, a tribute band for the late Tejano singer Selena.
