YCSO’s Sgt. Guerra Receives Congressional Commendation

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Edgar Guerra is the 2021 recipient of the Law Enforcement ‘Unsung Hero’ Commendation. 

U.S. Congressman Paul Gosar presented the Sergeant with the honors during a special meeting Thursday, August 12. 

 

The commendation recognizes Sergeant Guerra’s outstanding service and selfless contributions to the citizens of Yuma County.  

 

Sgt. Guerra has been working with YCSO since 2009 where he got his start as a deputy.

 

By 2012, he was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) investigating sexual-related crimes, domestic violence incidents, and child welfare cases.  

 

He was promoted in 2015 to Senior Deputy continuing his duties inside the CIB. Shortly after he was promoted to Sergeant in 2016 and reassigned to the Patrol Bureau.  

 

By 2019 Sgt. Guerra was given the leadership role of developing a new intelligence unit for the YCSO.
