Border crossers in San Luis say they are pleased to hear that President Trump signed an executive order to end family separations on the U.S.-Mexico border. The new policy will see parents and children detained together.
Tania Padilla, a young woman who said she has been crossing the border since she was a child, said the president’s actions were long overdue.
“It’s about time,” Padilla said. “It shouldn’t have even started to begin with. I mean, that’s inhumane.”

“I was looking at the pictures yesterday (with agents) putting kids in little cages,” she said. “I’ve seen dogs in bigger cages than that honestly.”
Several other border crossers we spoke to said they agreed.
The president’s move comes after days of administration officials saying only Congress could fix the situation created by the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy.
Arizona Representative Raul Grijalva released a statement calling on Trump to not end “this crisis with another.”
But he says jailing children, even with their parents, is still wrong and unnecessary.
