A company that provides air medical transportation celebrated the opening of its hangar location in Yuma this week.
Officials say AeroCare is a participating provider in the AirMedCare Network, where members incur no out of pocket expenses for a medically necessary flight.
Regional Program Director David Simkins said AeroCare moved into a hangar at the Yuma International Airport in April.
“We’re like a mobile ICU (intensive care unit) service so if somebody’s very sick or injured, we have the ability to take them to a hospital in Phoenix or San Diego or someplace where they can have a little bit more specialized care," Simkins said. "We’re that bridge to get them there.”
AeroCare’s agreement with the airport includes an option to construct additional facilities allowing for expansion of their exisiting operations within five years.
