Finalists for City of Yuma Administrator

The City of Yuma is hosting an open house, where Yuma residents will get the chance to meet and interact with the four finalists for City of Yuma Administrator.

It will be Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers and the lobby of Yuma City Hall, located at One City Plaza.

The finalists include Michael Celaya, who has 24 years of experience in municipal administration. He has also served in Arizona as the City Manager of Page and as the Town Manager in Gila Bend.

Jacob Ellis is another finalist. He has 14 years of experience serving local governments and has worked for the Town of Gilbert for the past four years.

Another candidate vying for the City of Yuma Administrator position is Philip Rodriguez. He has more than 17 years of local government experience, including serving as the City Manager in Brighton, a suburb of Denver, Colorado.

Finally, there is John Simonton. He is the current Interim City of Yuma Administrator. He was appointed to the position back in April and has been with the city for 16 years.

At the open house, Yuma residents will get the opportunity to meet them, ask them any questions and then relay their feedback to City Council.

City Council mmbers will then interview them in executive session Thursday and Friday.

The administrator will ultimately be appointed by City Council and his responsibilities will include providing organizational leadership for department directors and employees as well as overseeing the day-to-day business of government operations.
