Free Meals To Children During Winter Break

Crane School District providing free meals for children during winter break

While we often think of vacation as a nice break, a lot of kids in Yuma County worry about where they will get their next meal from.

The latest census reveals almost 20% of Yuma County's population lives beneath the poverty line.

That is why the Crane School District will be providing children with free meals during winter break.

Between Dec. 16, 2019 and Jan. 3, 2020, all children can get free breakfast from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and free lunch from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The only exceptions are Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New year's Day when the Nutritional Services Department will be closed.

Participating locations include Gary A. Knox Elementary, Pueblo Elementary, Ronald Reagan, Salida Del Sol and Valley Horizon.

For anyone over 18, breakfast costs $2.50 and lunch costs $3.50.
