From Surviving to Thriving: Mindset Shifts in the Latino Community

Today on "Sindo Primero," We started by vibing to The Neighbourhood's "You Get Me So High," digging its moody sound and the deep feels in the lyrics about love. Then, we switched gears to something super important to us and a lot of you: moving from just surviving to actually thriving in college, especially as first-gen students.

We broke down what being in "survival mode" feels like – that constant hustle and stress, and that feeling of not quite fitting in. Trust me, we get it. Then, we talked about flipping that switch to "thriving," which is about really getting into your studies, grabbing opportunities, finding your voice, and taking care of yourself, mind and body. Having a solid support system? Huge.

Being first-gen ourselves, We really wanted to shout out that just getting to university is a massive win, and we deserve way more than just scraping by. It's about seeing ourselves as belonging here, knowing it's okay to ask for help, and celebrating every victory. Surrounding yourself with supportive people and recognizing the unique strength we have as first-gen students? That's how we go from surviving to seriously making our mark.
