President Donald Trump visited Yuma this Tuesday ahead of a big event in Phoenix.

KAWC's Stephanie Sanchez  reports people gathered in 108 degree heat to get a glimpse of the president.

Spectators lined up along a half mile stretch of road outside Marine Corps Air Station-Yuma as President Donald Trump’s plane arrived.

Many people were there to protest the president including his plan to build a border wall.

42-year old Aisha Glenn was among the Trump supporters.

Glenn said she is happy with the president’s efforts to crack down on illegal immigration.

"That's to tell you I love him," Glenn said. "And for him you see I come here suffering the heat, just to wave at him. Anyway to see him and to tell you know what I like you. "

This is the first presidential visit to Yuma since President George W. Bush in 2006.

Trump never left the base but did take a tour and visited a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility.
