YUHSD Postpones In-Person Instruction

Yuma Union High School District

In-person instruction for schools in the Yuma Union High District is postponed until Sept. 8, 2020, according to the district's governing board.

The board voted unanimously to postpone in-person instruction during its Wednesday meeting after accepting the recommendation on behalf of Superintendent Gina Thompson. The board will re-evaluate its decision based on Yuma County health metrics established by the Arizona Department of Health Servies.

“I am hopeful with the continued monitoring and continued preventative measures such as wearing a mask and staying socially distanced that we can safely return to in-person learning on September 8,” Thompson said. “In the interest of keeping our staff and students safe, we will continue to work with our local and state-level healthcare professionals and allow their expertise to guide our decision when students should return to the classroom.”

Students in the district will continue to use Canvas Learning Management System or Yuma Online Distance Academy for instruction.
