KAWC/KOFA Executive Director
Posted: February 13, 2026
First review of applications: Immediate
Work location: Yuma, Arizona
The Opportunity
KAWC/KOFA is looking for an Executive Director to lead our NPR member station through its next chapter. We serve Yuma and La Paz Counties in southwestern Arizona—a binational, bilingual border community shaped by agriculture, education, military presence, and cross-border commerce.
We're a trusted local source of news and connection for the region. As public media navigates changing funding landscapes, we need a collaborative leader who can strengthen community relationships and build sustainable support for our future.
What You'll Lead
You'll provide overall leadership for a small professional team supported by student employees and volunteers. This role works across strategy and execution—you'll represent the station publicly, build relationships with donors and community leaders, develop diversified revenue strategies, and maintain our partnership with Arizona Western College.
You'll Be Right for This If You:
- Are comfortable representing an organization publicly and building trust across diverse stakeholders
- Have led nonprofit, public service, higher education, or mission-driven organizations
- Can make sound decisions in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- Bring fundraising, partnership, or resource development experience
- Lead with collaboration and good judgment
- Understand or are ready to learn what makes public media matter
Prior public media experience is welcome but not required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of senior leadership experience
- Experience supervising professional staff
- Strong communication skills (Spanish proficiency a plus)
