Police Videotaped in Suspect Beating Win Millions
Two police officers involved in a videotaped beating of a black teenager in Inglewood, Calif., have been awarded $2.4 million by a jury that found they were unfairly disciplined. We speak with Gregory Smith, the attorney for officer Jeremy Morse, who was given the larger jury award of $1.6 million. We also hear from Inglewood Mayor Roosevelt Dorn.
High Court Backs Oregon's Assisted-Suicide Law
The Supreme Court rules in favor of Oregon's physician-assisted-suicide law in a 6-to-3 decision. The justices find the state has the right to allow doctors to prescribe lethal doses of drugs for terminally ill, mentally sound patients.

Mirren Returns to PBS' 'Prime Suspect'
It's been seven years since detective Jane Tennison last applied her world-weary determination to solving a case on Masterpiece Theatre's Prime Suspect. But on April 18, acclaimed British actress Helen Mirren revives Tennison's character, returning to PBS in Prime Suspect 6: The Last Witness. Mirren speaks with NPR's Lynn Neary.

'Hotel Rwanda's' Don Cheadle
Cheadle stars in the new film Hotel Rwanda playing a hotel manager who shelters over a 1,000 refugees from genocide. It's based on the true story of Paul Rusesabagina. Cheadle's other films include Devil in a Blue Dress, Boogie Nights, Ocean's Eleven, and Traffic. This interview was originally broadcast on April 6, 2004.

Microsoft-Yahoo Merger Faces Antitrust Hurdles
On Thursday, Microsoft announced a whooping $44.6 billion bid for Yahoo, a merger that would give Google a run for the money. A deal that combines the second and third largest online search companies is likely to attract antitrust review. Greg Sidak, U.S. editor of the Journal of Competition Law and Economics offers some insight.

Connecticut Lays Off 3,000 State Employees
In an effort to address an estimated $500-million budget deficit, the state of Connecticut lays off 6 percent of its workforce. Gov. John Rowland warns more state workers could lose their jobs if unions fail to agree to concessions in the coming months. Caitlyn Kim reports.

Lott Apologizes Again as Controversy Swirls
Embattled Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) appears on Black Entertainment Television to apologize again for his remarks alluding to the glory of America's segregated past. Meanwhile, Senate Republicans will meet Jan. 6 to decide Lott's fate as majority leader. NPR's Juan Williams reports.
