Dr. Daniel Corr will take over the presidency of Arizona Western College (AWC) on July 1st, but he's already on the leading edge of what he calls a major learning curve.

Dr. Corr replaces retiring AWC President Glenn Mayle.

Corr comes to AWC from Scottsdale Community  College, where he serves as Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.  But it is in Yuma where Dr. Corr feels he can make the most difference as an educator.

On the AWC campus recently to meet with employees, students and faculty, Dr. Corr spoke to KAWC's Lou Gum about preparing to become president of the college...

Lou grew up in Tucson and has a long family history in the state of Arizona. He began his public radio career in 1988 at KNAU in Flagstaff as a classical music DJ and has been hooked on public radio since, transitioning to news after trying his hand at several other careers in publishing and commercial broadcasting. Lou has a degree in American Studies from Arizona State University and was KAWC's Morning Edition host for two and half years before becoming News and Operations Director.
