The Department of Health and Human Services awarded grants last week to 17 state health centers to help enroll Arizonans in the national health care exchange.
U.S. Representative Raúl Grijalva, a Democrat for Arizona’s 3rd District, congratulated the centers Tuesday, saying the grants help make the Affordable Care Act work.
More than 3-and-a-half-million-dollars were given to the 17 Arizona health centers for the 2013 and 2014 fiscal years, including Sunset Community Health Center in Somerton, Yavapai County Community Health Services in Prescott, and North County Healthcare in Flagstaff.
Across the country, 58-million-dollars in grants were awarded to more than 1-thousand health centers.
The centers in Arizona are expected to hire 45 additional employees who will help 61-thousand-6-hundred-38 Arizonans to enroll in health insurance.
