Arizona Candidate for Governor Aaron Lieberman at Arizona Western College in Yuma Wednesday

A candidate for Arizona governor will be at Arizona Western College’s main campus in Yuma Wednesday.

Arizona Democratic Rep. Aaron Lieberman will visit with AWC President Dr. Daniel Corr as well as students, faculty and staff. Lieberman said he will discuss higher education in Arizona, the value of higher education and access to higher education outside the Phoenix metro area.

Lieberman is scheduled to receive a campus tour conducted by AWC Student Ambassadors.

Lieberman is a state representative for Legislative District 28, which serves parts of north central Phoenix and Arcadia, Paradise Valley, the Biltmore area, Sunnyslope and the Palomino neighborhood.

Other Democratic candidates for governor at this time are Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and the former Mayor of Nogales Marco Lopez. There are six candidates on the Republican side including State Treasurer Kimberly Yee and former U.S. Rep. Matt Salmon. 

Victor is originally from West Sacramento, California and has lived in Arizona for more than five years. He began his print journalism career in 2004 following his graduation from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. Victor has been a reporter for the following daily newspapers: The Monterey County Herald, The Salinas Californian and the Reno Gazette-Journal, where he covered stories including agriculture, education and Latino community news. Victor has also served as a local editor for Patch, a national news organization with hyperlocal websites, in Carmichael, California in the Sacramento area. He also served as the editor for The New Vision, the newspaper for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson, which includes Yuma and La Paz counties. Victor lives in Somerton. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and following most sports.
