Vice President Mike Pence greets supporters following a rally in Yuma for then-U.S. Senate candidate Martha McSally on Oct. 26, 2018.

A week after President Donald Trump was in Yuma and met with Mayor Doug Nicholls, Vice President Mike Pence is on his way too.

Pence's office announced he will be in Arizona on June 30. He will give remarks at a Faith in America event in Tucson. After that, Pence will meet with Nicholls regarding the efforts the state is taking to fight COVID-19.

Last week, Nicholls signed a proclamation making face masks required in the city of Yuma limits, even though he voted against it. In an interview with Chris Cuomo on CNN Tuesday, Nicholls said he was the following the council's vote in favor of the proclamation and he does believe face masks slow the spread of the coronavirus but that he was hesitant about government regulation.

Pence last visited Yuma in October 2018 at a rally for then U.S. Senate candidate Martha McSally.
