The Yuma Audubon Society donated 200 native trees that were planted on the Cocopah Reservation near the Colorado River last week in a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day.
"It is a great collaboration, it's very exciting to have the 100 cottonwood and 100 mesquite trees," said Andrea Mitchell, Interim Director of the Cocopah Environmental Protection Office.
President of the Yuma Audubon Society, Nancy Meister said the cooperative effort is a case of neighbor helping neighbor.

"The grant money was there. Why not bring it to Yuma?" Nancy Meister said."Why not be able to help this area become more like it used to be."
All 200 trees were planted with guidance from both agencies.
