Tonight, a collaboration of several Yuma area groups gather to kick off the tenth season of the Village Jazz Series.
The Thursday evening concerts under the stars attract hundreds to the village area at Yuma Palms Regional Center. They are made possible with the support of KAWC, The Yuma Sun, KYMA, KSWT, and the Best Western Inn Suites of Yuma.
Lou Gum spoke with KAWC's own Steven Hennig about the series. Long before he joined the station, Steve was a member of the Yuma Jazz Company (still is) and one of the organizers of the Village Jazz Series. He said the crowd was pretty small for that first show a decade ago.
The Village Jazz Series Kicks off its tenth season tonight at 6 pm at the Yuma Palms Regional Center.
