San Luis High School students Delio Castillo and Andres Tovar were selected to perform in the University of Arizona’s prestigious High School Honor Choir.

Castillo and Tovar, both seniors, are the first pair of students from Yuma Union High School District ever selected for the group, which will perform Saturday, Oct. 21 from 2-4 p.m. at Crowder Hall on the university campus in Tucson. Hundreds of students from across the state audition with 50 selected to take part.

“Delio and Andres were both selected to be a part of this select group of singers,” SLHS Choir Director Juan Lomeli said. “These are the first students ever from San Luis to be a part of this program at the university level. I’m just very excited for them.”

Next month’s performance will cap off a weekend of rehearsals, educational opportunities, and social activities for students and their choral directors.
