Al Krieger Reflects on His Term as Yuma Mayor

Courtesy City of Yuma

Al Krieger was Yuma’s Mayor from 2010 to the end of 2014.  Prior to that, he spent one term on the Yuma City Council from 2004 to 2007.  Krieger has a background in construction.  The former mayor reflected on his tenure in city government and says he is most proud of the TAGS program to clean up graffiti in the city.  However, Krieger’s period in office was not without controversy.

KAWC’s Lou Gum had a candid conversation with the former mayor.

Lou grew up in Tucson and has a long family history in the state of Arizona. He began his public radio career in 1988 at KNAU in Flagstaff as a classical music DJ and has been hooked on public radio since, transitioning to news after trying his hand at several other careers in publishing and commercial broadcasting. Lou has a degree in American Studies from Arizona State University and was KAWC's Morning Edition host for two and half years before becoming News and Operations Director.
