President Donald Trump Visits Yuma

President Donald Trump made a quick stop before his rally in Phoenix Tuesday.  KAWC’s Maya Springhawk Robnett reports the President stopped briefly in Yuma…

President Trump was in Yuma less than an hour.  He toured Marine Corps Air Station-Yuma, but did not travel to the border.  He did meet with Customs and Border Protection officials at the base.

The 126-mile stretch of the Yuma Sector of the border has achieved what Border Patrol agents call “operational control,” meaning officials are reasonably sure they capture most border crossers.  Chief Border Patrol Agent of the Yuma Sector Anthony Porvaznik said the President was curious about how that was achieved.

“He asked how effective it was and I told him that the border wall here helped us gain that operational control, that initial impedance and denial of the traffic that at one time, there was no impedance or denial in the Yuma Sector,” Porvaznik said.

The President greeted Marines and their families on the tarmac before leaving on Air Force One.
