This is Bolo, the YPD canine that died from cancer.

The Yuma Police Department reports it lost one of its officers.  On Friday, Nov. 22, K-9 Officer Bolo died of cancer.

YPD spokesperson Sergeant Lori Franklin says Officer Bolo was seven years old, beginning his police career in 2015 with his handler, Officer Thomas Linville.  Sergeant Franklin says Officer Bolo was deployed 537 times in his YPD career.

Sergeant Franklin says Officer Bolo participated in building searches and narcotics detections during his YPD career.

She adds he took illegal drugs, paraphernalia and guns off Yuma’s streets.  He is credited with an apprehension, taking down a suspect with his bite.
