Dove hunting season opens Tuesday in Yuma County.
The season is set to begin a half-hour before sunrise and runs through Sept. 15 at sunset. Some local businesses have put up signs welcoming dove hunters to Yuma.
The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is reminding hunters of several rules.
Hunting is prohibited in municipal and county parks and preserves, including the Yuma East and West Wetlands, golf courses and airport properties.
Hunters also cannot discharge a firearm within a quarter-mile of an occupied structure without permission.
Shooting across or into maintained roads or railways is prohibited.
Hunters cannot trespass on posted private property or refuse to leave when asked.
They also cannot damage crops or private property.
And officials say: pack it in, pack it out.
That includes shotgun shells and wildlife remains.
Violations can lead to criminal charges or loss of hunting privileges.
