A new church with services in English is in the works for San Luis.

Arizona Community Foundation officials announced that the First Baptist Church of Phoenix Foundation has provided $13,500 to Church for the City to support a new church plant in San Luis.

Once open, officials say it will be the only English-speaking Christian church in San Luis. Currently, English-speaking Christians in the San Luis area have to drive to Yuma for services.

The San Luis church is in the initial stages of planning. Officials said selection and training of the church’s pastoral team is under way.

Team members have been reaching out to community members at public events to notify them of the church and what services will be offered.
