YUHSD Looking For Academic Decathlon Judges

The Yuma Union High School District is looking for judges for their annual Academic Decathlon Scrimmage.

The scrimmage, which will help students prepare for Arizona’s regional competitions in 2020, takes part over two days (Dec. 6-7) at Cibola High School.

Around 80 students have volunteered for the competition that has them competing in ten categories: art, economics, essay, interview, literature, mathematics, music, science, social science, & speech.

In 2019, Cibola’s Academic Decathlon team placed 10th in the state, the highest finish by any YUHSD school in more than a decade. Yuma High and Gila Ridge also competed at state with Yuma High medaling in the interview category.

In addition to hosting the district scrimmage, Cibola will also host the regional competition in 2020.
