Yuma County Library Receives Grant For Virtual Youth Programs

Sarah Wisdom
Yuma County Library District

The Yuma County Library received a $4,000 grant that will be used to fund and advance recording equipment that increases virtual programming for youth, teens, and adults in the community.

The Arizona State Library Archives and Public Records announced Yuma County as a receipt of the funding that stems from the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES).

"The communities we serve will benefit tremendously from this funding, and we look forward to implementing new programs for all our patrons," - Lisa Mendez, Yuma County Library Director

During the start of the pandemic in March, Congress allocated $50 million in CARES Act funding to the Institute of Museums and Library Services to support libraries amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The institute then dispersed the funds accordingly resulting in the recent funding for the Arizona State Library Archives and Public Records.
