A girls soccer player in San Luis is hoping to win a national youth sports contest.
Leah Correa, age 12, is a goalkeeper on the Yuma RSL travel team. She’s also a 7th grade student at Southwest Junior High School.
Daniel Correa, Leah’s father, told KAWC his daughter is currently 5th in her group in the 2026 Youth Athlete of the Year competition and that she hopes to continue playing soccer into high school and beyond.
Leah said she would be honored if she were to win the competition.
“It would mean so much to me," she said. "It would mean, people helped me get to this point and to never give up even if people aren't supporting me.”
