Two Arizona Inmates Test Positive For COVID-19

Two male inmates within the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) have tested positive for COVID-19.

Since the virus hit Arizona,  60 ADCRR inmates have been tested for the virus out of more than 42,000 throughout the state. The results showed 48 inmates were negative, 10 are pending and two positive cases.

The first inmate to test positive was already hospitalized on March 27, 2020 for showing several non-COVID-19 related symptoms. He was tested for the virus three times, the first two were negative, the third was positive, according to ADCRR. The inmate remains at the un-named community hospital.

The second inmate tested positive at the Marana Community Correctional Treatment Facility in Pima County. The facility serves as a custody and substance abuse treatment center for 500 adult male inmates and is operated by Management and Training Corporation.

Inmates who exhibit flu-like symptoms are being separated from the general population in accordance with the Center for Disease Control guidelines.
