U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Nielsen and Arizona Governor Ducey Tour Border Near Yuma

The head of U.S. Homeland Security toured the Mexican border near Yuma with Arizona’s governor on April 18th.  KAWC’s Kim Johnson has details…

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and Governor Doug Ducey met with National Guard troops sent to the border as part of Operation Guardian Shield.  Standing by the border wall, Nielsen lauded the work that’s been accomplished there.

“I’m proud to be meeting with the men and women on the front lines.  These men and women are true heroes and we owe them a tremendous amount of our respect and gratitude,” Secretary Nielsen said.

Governor Ducey applauded President Donald Trump’s efforts at the border.

“Strong border protection is absolutely necessary.  Our communities are all too familiar with the consequences of not taking this issue seriously,” Ducey said.

The visit comes as Arizona continues deployment more than 300 National Guard troops along the border.
