The Pomp and Circumstance will be returning in person for Arizona Western College students next month.

The 2020 commencement was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the number of vaccinations increasing daily and a drop in COVID cases, AWC officials announced two ceremonies this year in order to reduce crowd sizes.

The graduation ceremonies will take place on May 13and 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of Gila Ridge High School.

On the 13th,  AWC will celebrate its graduates earning an Associate of Arts, Associate of Business, Associate of General Studies, Associate of Applied Science last names A-C and Nursing students along with graduates of the Arizona State University and University of Arizona programs in Yuma. NAU-Yuma has chosen not to participate in person, but AWC will still celebrate those graduates.

On the 14th, AWC will celebrate its graduates earning an Associate of Applied Science last names D-Z and specific major degrees.

For safety reasons, guests are limited to two per graduate and will be seated six-feet apart in pods of two in the stadium seats.

Both nights will be aired live on the AWC Facebook Page and on Channel 74.
