After a nationwide search that lasted months, the City of Yuma has selected its next City Administrator.
Philip Rodriguez was chosen from more than 30 candidates. He brings to the table more than 17 years of local government experience - something Yuma mayor Doug Nicholls says will serve the community well.
He most recently served as City Manager for the cities of Brighton, Colorado and Athens, Texas. He's also held positions as an economic development director, and as a consultant to local government offices.
Rodriguez says he's grateful to Mayor Doug Nicholls and the entire city council for their trust and confidence, and eager to serve the community, adding "me and my family are excited to make Yuma our home and are blessed to join such a great community as we build our future together."
Rodriguez is expected to start his new position on November 19. His initial contract lasts four years, with an option to renew.
The City began a national search for their next Administrator in June, following the retirement of Greg Wilkinson, who had been the City Administrator for nine years.
Since then, Jay Simonton was serving as the Interim City Administrator.
