Around 60 Arizona Western Collge students will be volunteering at the upcoming Children’s Festival of the Arts on Saturday, Nov. 2.
All of the students are from the Upward Bound program - a U.S. Department of Education funded grant program, designed to increase the academic skills and motivational levels of low-income and/or first-generation college students.
They will be stationed at various arts and crafts booths to help children create projects during the event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Main Street in Downtown Yuma.
This will be the tenth year that Upward Bound students have assisted at the Children’s Festival of the Arts as a way to give back to the community. Participating students are from Parker, Kofa, Cibola, San Luis, and Yuma high schools.
