A pilot was trapped inside his aircraft after it crashed in an agricultural field Monday morning.
According to the Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department, crews responded to the crash around 8:21 a.m. near County 12th Street and Avenue G.
Fire officials said the male pilot was trapped inside the wreckage, prompting firefighters to use the Jaws of Life to extricate him.
The pilot was transported to Onvida Health for further evaluation. He was reported to be in stable condition.
Pictures provided by Fire Chief Javier Hernandez show the aircraft heavily damaged after it came to rest in a row of an agricultural field that appeared to be in the early stages of planting.
No one was working in the field at the time of the crash.
The cause of the crash is unclear and is under investigation.
