Yuma County financial institutions celebrate Arizona Credit Union Week

OneAZ Credit Union

If you handle your banking at a credit union in Yuma County, you may probably already know it's Arizona Credit Union Week.

According to Arizona's Credit Unions, there are 54 credit unions in the state serving 2.7 million members. Officials say the week "promotes the benefits of not-for-profit banking options for consumers and small businesses throughout Arizona."

In Yuma County, OneAZ Credit Union has five locations in Yuma and San Luis.

"Credit unions support the community," said Arlyn Morales, OneAZ's community relations specialist. "We have members, we don't have 'shareholders'. When we participate in the community, we want to make sure we're providing services and that we're also improving the lives we're impacting."

In Yuma, Morales said her credit union will offer free coffee Tuesday morning at Creation Coffee. On Wednesday, local OneAZ employees will join their colleagues from Avenir Financial to volunteer at the Yuma Community Food Bank.

Then on Thursday, Morales said she will attend an event in Phoenix highlighting small businesses where she is being joined by Alma Ornelas, the owner of The Best Taquito in Yuma and San Luis and a OneAZ business member.
