Yuma is among the U.S. cities where a rise in COVID-19 cases may be coming soon, according to a recent study by The New York Times.
The Times reports Yuma is number 2 on a list of areas where outbreaks might come next as of Friday.
The Times based the list on the highest average daily growth rate of cases. Yuma has reported 316 cases in the past two weeks, likely due to a testing blitz in Yuma, Somerton and San Luis.
The average daily growth rate is 8 percent. Cases double every 8.6 days.
The only area above Yuma on the Times’ list is Sherman-Denison, Texas, which is located about one hour north of Dallas.
