President Donald Trump is expected to visit the border fence near Yuma next week.
The Washington Post reports Trump is expected to attend a ceremony in the Yuma Sector on an as yet unannounced day to mark the completion of the barrier’s 200th mile. That is according to officials who were not authorized to describe the plans.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has asked contractors for help making the border wall more difficult to climb over and cut through, an acknowledgment that the design currently being installed across hundreds of miles of the U.S.-Mexico boundary remains vulnerable.
Trump last visited Yuma in August 2017 when he met with Customs and Border Protection officials during a brief visit to Marine Corps Air Station-Yuma, but he did not travel to the border.
His last visit to the border wall in the Desert Southwest was in Calexico in April 2019.
