Visit Yuma Visitor Information Center and Offices Close

Visit Yuma, the tourist information center for the City of Yuma and the surrounding area, has closed its doors due to the COVID-19 virus.

Visit Yuma Executive Director Linda Morgan told KAWC today’s closure of the Visitor Information Center and their administrative office is “out of an abundance of caution” to keep staff and visitors healthy.

"The majority of our staff is working partially in the office, partially at home," Morgan said.  "We’re trying to have a skeleton crew here in the office so that we can maintain the business, while at the same time managing the social distancing ta keep everybody safe.

The Visit Yuma closing also includes the cancellation of a couple of major local events.

"The first thing that we did was cancel the Rio de Cerveza Brewfest," Morgan said.  "Because that was coming up quickly and we tried to hang in there to see how things were going to go for the Ag to Art Market, and we had to close that as well."

There’s no specific timeframe for the closure.  It will be re-evaluated on the basis of the COVID-19 virus’ impact in the area.
