Teacher of the Year

Hannah Martinez, a 3rd grade teacher at Palmcroft Elementary, is Yuma County's education ambassador for the year.

There are 12 finalists for Yuma County Teacher of the Year, and one of them will be awarded the title at the 39th Annual Teacher of the Year Banquet tonight.

San Luis Middle School's Arilene Gaxiola has been named Arizona Teacher of the Year by Teachers of Tomorrow. Community members can vote now through April 27 for Gaxiola to earn the national title.

KAWC met with Neomi Pharmes, Yuma County's Teacher of the Year, in her classroom at Crane Middle School to talk about her teaching philosophy and get to know her a little better.
