We’re kicking off today’s show with Mayor Douglas Nicholls, now in his third term leading Yuma. From founding 4FrontED to serving on the Arizona Space Commission, Mayor Nicholls has been a driving force in economic development and collaboration across the state. We’ll get to know him, his journey, and talk about the Yuma Spaceport, the 9th Annual Mayors’ International Bike Ride, and Community Conversations. Then, we’re joined by Dr. Tanya Hodges, Executive Director of the Yuma Center of Excellence for Desert Agriculture. A sixth-generation Yuma County native, Dr. Hodges blends deep local roots with leadership in agricultural innovation, water management, and technology. We’ll talk about her career, the mission of YCEDA, and how the future of desert agriculture is being shaped right here in Yuma.

What's Up Yuma? Radio - Jeff Yuma & Mandy Heil
We’re kicking off today’s show with Jeff Yuma, a staple of the local music scene since 2005. From the old Open Aired days to DIY shows on Prison Hill and now Tarros Chicli, Jeff has kept the underground music community alive. He’s here to talk about his bands Beg For Life and Burning Hammerz, the Yuma Shows movement, and his biggest project yet — 928 SLAM, a two-day festival celebrating aggressive and alternative music in Yuma. Then, we’re joined by Mandy Heil, Associate Dean of Marketing & Communications at Arizona Western College. Mandy was named Communicator of the Year for District 6 and has led major projects from AWC’s rebrand to the “Cash in Your Pocket” campaign. She’s here to share her story, her leadership journey, and how she helped open AWC’s own merch store on campus.

First up, Travis & Ashley Krizay join us to share their Yuma story. Proud natives, they’re the owners of Cafecito and founders of The Atticus Kindness Project. We’ll talk about their journey from a coffee trailer at the farmers market to a 10,000 sq ft community space, their love for music, food, and adventure, and how they turned personal tragedy into a movement of kindness that’s changing lives in Yuma. Then, we sit down with Eric Wofford. Born and raised in Yuma, Eric has proudly served as General Manager of the Yuma County Fair for 17 years. We’ll dive into his roots in farming and 4-H, how he’s grown and modernized the fairgrounds, his leadership across state and regional fair associations, and of course, what’s coming up at the Yuma County Fair Fall Festival.
