Congressional candidate Adelita Grijalva was in Yuma County late last week, just days before a second scheduled Democratic primary debate.

Grijalva is, of course, running for the seat in Congress for Arizona District 7, which covers Arizona from Tucson to Yuma and beyond. Her father the late Congressman Raúl Grijalva held the seat for more than 20 years. Adelita Grijalva says that she is proud to share his last name but that she is her own public servant.

On Friday, Grijalva visited seniors at the Desert Valley Senior Center in Somerton and later with supporters in downtown Yuma.

The first Democratic primary debate was held May 27 in Phoenix. A second debate is scheduled this Tuesday in Phoenix. Republican candidates have separate debates with the primary election on July 15.

Grijalva is one of five Democrats in the race. She and Deja Foxx will be in San Luis Wednesday for a town hall on education.
